Location of Sighting: Braintree Essex.
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of Objects: 1
Shape of Objects: Round ball with tail.
Full Description of Event/Sighting: I was walking to the shop in Cressing
road B/tree, as I entered street from an alleyway, I crossed the road
and looked North. Straight away I saw a bright ball of orange light
with a sort of tail moving in a northwest direction. It was as bright
and almost the same colour as the street lights which were on as it
was dark, but was at least 100-200 feet up. The sky was clear and
stars could be seen, also there was no sound. It was moving slow and
kept in the same direction for about 4 minutes. It then faded out
as though it had gone into cloud, but the sky was clear. At the same
moment a plane came into view, it had two white lights with a red
one behind.
The plane was at the same height and crossed the position the object
had been. I read on this site about another sighting in Braintree
of orange balls of light that were identified as lanterns. I have
seen many lanterns in the past and this was not like any I have seen
before. This was too bright and was not flickering and though moving
slow, seemed to be moving rather than floating in the wind. I would
not rule out it being some sort of balloon or lantern, but the light
coming from it was too intense to be a candle.
