Bright Blue White Object With Tail Over

Full Description of Event/Sighting: My friend and I were just sitting in his backyard when suddenly he yells at me to turn around and look west. It looked like a meteor falling, but this was much bigger or closer, and it was a very bright white/blue light. It seemed to be falling directly toward the ground because it stayed the same size as it was falling. It was like a white/blue fire ball that had a small tail following it. We lost sight of it as it disappeared behind a hill. Don't know what it was, but it scared the crap out of me and my bud.
