Full Description of Event/Sighting: I was on the Black Creek Canyon fire, which is north of Cody, Wyoming. At about 2:00am I had get up to go pee. When I sat at the entrance of my tent putting my boots, I noticed a bright light. My first impression of it were, a helicopter with a search light, but I was in Canyon in the night and there should have been a rotor wash sound, but nothing, it was quiet with no sound at all. It seemed like the searchlight was right on me and my tent. So as I was watching the light (it was probably 20 degrees up maybe 1000 feet away) it faded so fast, like it moved away in just a split second. I'm a former United Forest Service Firefighter helicopter crew member. I've never seen anything move like this and I still wonder what I saw that night.
